Mesabi Range College Foundation Scholarships
The Mesabi Range College Foundation scholarships are currently available on-line. With one simple electronic application, MRC students can apply for any of the 65 scholarship awards facilitated by the MRC Foundation that they are qualified for. Click here to apply online.
Please note, this is not the same as the MRC scholarship listed in the scholarship booklet.

HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR ATHLETES
Triple-Impact Competitor®  Scholarship
Positive Coaching Alliance  (PCA) awards scholarships of $500-$2,000 (depending on location) to high school athletes. A Triple-Impact Competitor® is an athlete who works to improve oneself, teammates, and the game as a whole. These individuals play a special role in Positive Coaching Alliance’s mission to turn high school and youth sports into a Development Zone™, developing better athletes and better people. Eligibility extends to any high school junior residing anywhere in the U.S. and playing for a high school team or in club sports! 2019 FarmHouse Scholarship
The Minnesota Chapter of FarmHouse fraternity will be awarding multiple scholarships ranging from $250-$1000, available to all male high school seniors planning to attend University of Minnesota, Twin Cities as incoming freshman, regardless of planned course of study or major. The scholarships will be awarded based on Academic Achievement, Leadership Experience, Athletic Involvement and Career Motivation.
Applying for, or further, receiving the scholarship in no way requires you to be involved with FarmHouse in your collegiate career, and the applicant’s likelihood of joining a fraternity will not be evaluated during the awarding process.

Virginia Community Foundation Scholarships

The following scholarships are available through the Virginia Community Foundation.  Applications are available in the counseling office. If you plan on applying for one of these scholarships, be sure to request an official transcript from the Counseling Office to include with your application.

Dr. Halvor & Emily Olson Scholarship
Qualifications:

  1. Must be a full time student in good standing at Virginia High School
  2. Must have been accepted to the University of Minnesota

Garett Plotnik Memorial Scholarship
Qualifications:

  1. High school senior pursuing a degree at a post-secondary institution
  2. Student must currently attend Virginia High School

George Munig Economic Scholarship
Qualifications:

  1. No GPA requirement
  2. Attending a post-secondary school
  3. Field of study, economics or business

Skaurud Memorial Scholarship
Qualifications:

  1. Must be a full time student in good standing at Virginia High School
  2. Must have been accepted into a post secondary educational institution.
  3. Must have a GPA that will place the student in the top 25% of their graduating class.

Local 1938 Steelworkers Memorial Scholarship
USW Local 1938 will be awarding ten $750.00 scholarships. Applicants must be a dependent child of a member or retiree of Local Union 1938, USW US Steel Corporation, Minntac Plant. Please stop in the counseling office for an application.
Deadline: March 31, 2019

Virginia Elks Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship
Must be a Virginia High School senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students may apply for more than one ELKS scholarship, however they may win only one. Applications are available in the counseling office.
Please turn in completed applications to Mrs. Harsila in the counseling office.

Virginia Elks Lodge #1003 Scholarship
Must be a Virginia High School senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students may apply for more than one ELKS scholarship, however they may win only one. Applications are available in the counseling office.

BATC-Housing First Minnesota Scholarships
BATC-Housing First Minnesota is accepting 2019-2020 scholarship applications. The scholarship selections will give priority to those seeking to learn a construction-related trade. This includes carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and others.Click here for more information and to download an application. Applications are also available in the counseling office.

East Range Partnership – Technical Education Scholarship
This scholarship is open to all seniors attending one of the consortium schools pursuing a technical degree. Membership districts include: Ely, Eveleth-Gilbert, International Falls, Little-Fork Big Falls, Mesabi East, Mountain Iron-Buhl, St. Louis County and Virginia Schools.
Students with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and plan to enroll in college (two year technical college, four year college, or institutions offering transferable programs) are eligible to apply.
Please stop in the counseling office for an application.

IDEA Drilling LLC Scholarship
Open to VHS seniors enrolling in an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university, have a minimum 3.2 GPA and are involved in extracurricular activities and/or community service.
Applications are available in the counseling office.
Deadline: April 1, 2019.

Hibbing Community College Foundation General Scholarship 
This scholarship is available to students who will be attending Hibbing Community College in any area of study. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Anteo and Betty  Bocchi Memorial Scholarship
Available to VHS graduating seniors who are the child of an active member of the Virginia Fire Department or the Virginia Police Department.
Applications available in the counseling office.
Deadline: April 1, 2019.

The Laurence Kleven Memorial Scholarship
The Laurence Kleven Memorial Scholarship awards $250 scholarships to two high school seniors who will be furthering their education.  Applicants must reside within the area served by the St. Louis County Agricultural Fair Association and have exhibited at the St. Louis County Fair. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and must be mailed as indicated on the application.
Deadline:  April 10, 2019.


If you are attending the University of Minnesota Crookston, Duluth, Morris or Twin Cities campus in 2019-20,  sign up in the counseling office for the opportunity to receive a $2,600.00 scholarship. Yes, it’s that simple! No applications to complete or essays to write…JUST SIGN UP!

The Northland Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation Frank Budd MD Scholarship
The Northland Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation Frank Budd MD Scholarship will award one $750 scholarship to a northland high school senior who is the relative of a Vietnam veteran and who maintains a 3.0 GPA.  Applications are available in the Counseling Office.

2019 Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship
The 2019 Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship offers two $2,500 scholarships to one female and one male student who intend to pursue a professional career in sports medicine. Qualified candidates should demonstrate leadership, be actively involved in their community and interscholastic sports and achieve academic success.  Applications are available in the Counseling Office.
Deadline: May 13, 2019.


Mesabi Range College Scholarships
There are numerous scholarships available to applicants enrolling as a full-time students at Mesabi Range College. A full-time freshman or a full-time sophomore is a student who is registered for at least 12 Mesabi Range College credits and must be taken at Mesabi Range College.

Minnesota Indian Scholarship
Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program provides postsecondary financial assistance to eligible Minnesota resident students who are of one-fourth or more Indian ancestry and demonstrate financial need for an award.
In order to qualify for this scholarship, you must be:

  • One-fourth or more American Indian
  • A Minnesota Resident
  • Enrolled in an accredited college, university or vocational school in Minnesota
  • An undergrad student who qualifies for either a Pell or State Grant and demonstrates financial need or a graduate student who demonstrates financial need
