Elks National Foundation
Most Valuable Student Scholarships

Since 1931, the Elks National Foundation has helped thousands of students who need financial assistance fulfill their dreams of attending college. Most Valuable Student scholars are outstanding students who are at or near the top of their class, active in their schools and communities and recognized as leaders by their peers. Eligible to any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Applications will be judged on; Scholarship, leadership and financial needs. Students who actively volunteer in their community are strongly encouraged to apply.
First place: Two $50,000.00 scholarships
Second place: Two $40,000.00 scholarships
Third place: Two $30,000.00 scholarships
Fourth place: Fourteen $20,000.00 scholarships

Fifth place: Four hundred eighty $4,000.00 scholarships

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education.

Marshall H. and Nellie Alworth Scholarship
The Alworth Memorial Fund has been providing scholarships in science and math since 1949. They have distributed over $47 million in college scholarships to nearly 4,700 students in Northeastern Minnesota.

The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation manages multiple scholarships available to seniors in our area.  Please click here to see what scholarships you may be eligible for you.  A printout is also available in the Counseling Office.  Deadline:  January 15, 2019

The Jeanne Hemmingway Scholarship is one of many scholarships managed by the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation and has new unique and exciting eligibility criteria…no academics!  Students will have to use it at UMD, but the scholarship is looking to assist students who have experienced serious adversity in their lives. Students must be able to answer ‘yes’ to one of these questions:

1) Can you show an improvement of two grade points or more from lowest to highest semesters of high school?
2) Are you a survivor of physical or sexual abuse?
3) Have you experienced homelessness in the past five years?
4) Have you participated in an alternative education program or completed a GED?
5) Do you speak English as a second language?
6) Have you been assessed as chemically dependent?
7) Have you ever missed a significant amount of school for medical or caregiving reasons?

Elks National Foundation
Legacy Award Scholarship

Established in 1998, the ENF Legacy Awards program offers 300 college scholarships worth $4,000 each to children and grandchildren of Elks members. Applicants must meet membership eligibility requirements and apply online.

Mediacom World Class Scholarship Program

Mediacom Communications is offering 55 $1,000, non-renewable scholarships to high school seniors in the 21 states where it provides cable, internet and telephone services. Download an application here or stop in the counseling office.
