We will accommodate for early out days!
This is a collaborative between the Virginia Public Schools and Mesabi Family YMCA. A safe, fun structured environment for your child to go during after school hours. Students will participate in enrichment activities, homework help, snack time, wellness activities, games, and arts & crafts in a supervised environment! Students must be pre registered and pre paid to attend. Program is available at Parkview Elementary. Students from Roosevelt can be bussed to Parkview after school. Babysitters’ Training Ages 11-15
Mon-Wed. 10/9-10/11 3:00-5:30 Resource Center $40
For boys and girls who want to be responsible babysitters. Each participant receives the Babysitters’ Handbook and other useful handouts. Students are eligible to receive a certificate if they are age 11 or older. Bring a snack for after school. Class size limited to the first 10 paid participants. Flyers will be sent home. Safe on My Own Grades 3-6
Mon. Sept. 18 2:45-4:30pm Resource Center $10
Anna will teach the basics of 1st Aid and Safety for latch key children. This is a great class for children so that know what to do and how to handle situations that may arise. Snack & materials included. Flyers will be sent home.

How to Make Balloon Animals

Learn to make a variety of animal sculptures, bracelets, and crazy hats just like the pros. Please not balloons are made with latex so avoid this if you have latex allergies.
Halloween Craft Class

Our first project for Halloween will be to paint a couple of chunky wooden pumpkins. After that, we will make a spooky little ghost to decorate your home for Halloween. Don’t worry though; it’s not too scary.

Minnesota Pony Stick Puppets

Make a puppet with moveable parts that operates with the stick principal, using straws. Then decorate him up with all the trappings for the big show to suit your style! Try a rodeo horse, carousel horse, circus pony, or even a horse from outer space!
Big Eyes Cartoon Characters

Using illustration markers, draw our native Minnesotan animals with the pop art style big eyes and other clever cartoon qualities. Choose from many animals and put them in a Minnesota nature scene.

For our first project we are going to make a funny little turkey from a glove and decorate it for Thanksgiving using feathers and felt and such. Secondly we will make and decorate a lovely “Give Thanks” table runner to dress your table for the holiday table

Build Your Own Gingerbread House

A Family, Holiday Event! All ages welcome- must have an adult with. Build and decorate your own gingerbread house to take home and eat as a treat or use as a decoration for the holidays!
